Guruvayur / Guruvayoor is a famous Krishna temple located in the town of Guruvayur in the Thrissur district of Kerala.Guruvayoorappan has a distinct place in every heart and every Malayali household. Guruvayoor Sree krishna Temple has emerged as one of the most important places of worship in Southern India like Tirupati and Sabarimala.Guruvayur is most famous for its temple, which is many centuries old and one of the most important in Kerala.

The presiding deity in the sanctum-sanctorum is Mahavishnu. Guruvayur is also known as "Bhuloka Sri Vaikuntham" meaning Heaven in Earth. where the deity reveals himself to his devotees in the same majestic form in which he welcomes them in Vaikuntha, his celestial abode.
Guruvayur lies 25 km to the northwest of Thrissur city.
The temple is being run by the Guruvayur Devaswom Management Committee under the directions of Government of Kerala.
Records indicate the temple to be at least 1000 years old.
Strict dress code exists for devotees who wish to enter the Guruvayoor temple. Men are to wear Mundu and a small piece of cloth (Veshthi) to cover chest.  Girls and women are not supposed to wear any trouser like dresses. Women are expected to wear Sari and young girls are to wear long skirt and blouses.Presently the dress code for women have been relaxed with Salwar Kameez/Churidar being allowed.

Festivals at the Guruvayur temple:
The utsavam in Guruvayur is in the month of Kumbham (Feb-Mar) and the celebrations are spread over a period of 10 days.

The Guruvayur Ekadesi falls in the month of Vrischika (Nov-Dec). Once when Lord Maha Vishnu visited the abode of Yama, he heard heart rending cries of people tortured for their sins. The Lord wanted to save them from more suffering and uttered the word Ekadesi.

By Train:
The nearest railway station is at Guruvayur.
Passenger trains operate from the Guruvayur station to Thrissur and Kochi, as well as an overnight express train to Thiruvananthapuram and further to Chennai.

By Air:
The nearest airport (75 km) is Cochin International Airport, at Nedumbassery near Kochi.
Kozhikode International Airport is also around 85 Kms from Guruvayoor, it will take approximately 2 hrs to reach Guruvayur by bus or by car.

Athirapilly Falls -Athirapilly water Falls
Athirappally is located around 60 km from Thrissur, at the entrance to Sholayar ranges, and is one of the most famous picnic spots around that area. Athirappilly Falls is one of the best places to visit in Kerala.

Malampuzha Garden: Malampuzha Garden is 10 km from Palakkad town.This is one of the most famous picnic spot of Kerala. Malampuzha comprises a dam and beautifully landscaped gardens, is situated on the lower hills of the Western Ghats.This is a large irrigation dam built on the river Bharathapuzha. Malampuzha Garden is easily accessible from Palakkad and has frequent bus service from Palakkad.

Pothundy:Pothundy is around 45 km from Palakkad and is situated on the way to Nelliampathy.Pothundy Reservoir Complex is a famous picnic location in Palakkad.

Kalpathi Ratholsavam: Kalpathi or Kalpathy also known as Dakshin Kasi or the 'Varanasi of the South is an early Tamil Brahmin settlement (agraharam) in the Palakkad District.Annual chariot festival at Viswanatha Temple is known as Kalpathi Ratholsavam.

Pattambi Nercha: The festival is conducted in memory of Aloor Valia Pookkunjikoya Thangal, noted Muslim saint of South Malabar.

Attappady : Attappady is an extensive mountain valley above the crest of the Ghat ranges, with several rivulets of the river Bhavani. The area is dominated by tribal people.

Malappuram , Kerala - Malappuram Tourism and places of importance

Malappuram is around 50 kms south-east of Kozhikode. Malappuram town is the head quarters of the Malappuram district.

Chaliyar or Beypore river: Chaliyar also known as Beypore (Beypore Beach,Beypore Beach Tour,Kozhikode(Calicut...) river is a major river of Kerala and flows through Malappuram district.

Kadalundi River : Kadalundi river, also known as Karimpuzha or Oravanpurampuzha, originates from the Silent Valley reserve forests at an elevation of 1219 metres above the sea level.

Bharathapuzha : Bharathapuzha is always Malayalis faourite river.Bharathapuzha also known as Nila nadi or Ponnani river, has its source in the Anamalai hills.

Kadampuzha Bhagavathi temple: Kadampuzha Bhagavathi temple is in Melmuri village of Tirur taluk is situated 3 Km north of Vettichira on the NH-17 connecting Calicut and Trissur said to have been set up by Jagadguru Sankaracharya.It is a major pilgrimage center of Kerala.

Tirunavaya
The land of ancient Mamankam, Tirunnavya is South of Tirur and situated on the banks of Bharathapuzha.In olden days, Mamankam was a grand assembly of the rulers held once in 12 years.It is a place of historical importance.
The ancient and famous temple on the banks of the Bharathapuzha dedicated to Lord Shiva was the traditional venue of the ritual of Mamankam an enactment of traditional martial arts by suicide squades.

Pazhayangadi Mosque, Kondotti: It is around 18km east of Manjeri on the way to Malappuram. The three day long Valia Nercha feat at this 500 year old

Valiya Juma Masjid Malappuram: This is an important pilgrim centre of the Muslims of Kerala.

Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary: Over a 100 varieties of native birds and over 60 varieties of migratory birds flock here.Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is located 19kms from Kozhikode and 7kms from Beypore port, the sanctuary which is spread over a cluster of islands covers an area surrounded by hillocks where the Kadalundipuzha flows in to the Arabian sea.

Kottakkal Ayurvedic Medical College (Kottakal,Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala,How to reach?)

Kottakkal, 13kms from Malappuram, is the premier centre for the traditional classical Indian medical system of Ayurveda with a renowned private institution set up in 1900. It possess a large private hospital, drugs producing centre, herbarium and even an Ayurvedic Medical College.

Nilambur: Nilambur is on the Calicut - Ootty highway, 40 Kms from Malappuram is well known for its teak plantations, said to the oldest in the world known as Connolly's plot and has Teak Museum.

Adyanpara: Adyanpara lies in Kurumbalangode village of Nilambur taluk and is famous for its water falls and the splendour of its wooded jungles.

Tirur-Thunjan Paramba
Tirur is 41 Kms. south of Kozhikode, on the Mangalore-Chennai railway line. Thunjan Paramba in Trikandiyur, 3 Kms. from Tirur railway station, is sacred for all who sepak Malayalam. This is the birth place of Thunjath Ramanujan Ezhuthachan of the 15 century AD, honoured as the father of Malayalam literature.

Ponnani
Ponnani is the only port in Malappuram district and one of the oldest ones in Kerala. A tidal port at the mouth of Bharathappuzha, Ponnani is an important fishing center.

1. Post-Graduate Program in Management (PGP)
PGP Admission
The admission to the P G Programme is through a highly rigorous internationally acclaimed admission test.Selection to the Post-Graduate Programme is based on criteria which include the candidate’s performance in Common Admission Test (CAT), academic record, work experience and performance in Group Discussion (GD) and interviews.

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe or Persons with Disability category), of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India

2. Executive Management Education Program (eMEP)
The entry to all executive education programmes is restricted to graduates/ CA/ ICWA having atleast 5 years of work experience.
For eMEP, the selection is based on executive Management Aptitude Test (eMAT) conducted by IIMK every year and the interviews, through IOL platform, of the short-listed candidates based on the eMAT.
3. Management Development Program (MDP)
Management Development Programs of IIM Kozhikode are designed to provide working executives with state-of-art concepts and practices in management.Programs range from three to six days. IIMK also conducts custom-designed programs upon request from business, industry and other organizations/Government departments, to train officers and executives.
4. Fellow Program in Management (FPM)
The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), which is the Doctoral Programme of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.
FPM Admission
Admission will be based on academic qualifications, performance in the qualifying examination, personal interviews and work experience.
Eligibility.
* Post-Graduate degree or equivalent in any dis- cipline (including M.A, M.Sc., M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech etc) with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
* Professional qualifications of CA, ICWA and CS with at least 50% marks or equivalent.

5. Centre of Excellence(CEx)
IIMK incubates a Centre of Excellence(CEx), where youth from the marginalized sections of society, such as the SC/STs, are imparted training to make them intellectually and emotionally capable of joining reputed companies and educational institution
6. Faculty Development Program (FDP)
IIM Kozhikode's Faculty Development Programs groom budding faculty members of management schools of the country. The duration ranges from three days to three weeks.The programmes not only focus on enhancing functional area expertise, but also on improving one's classroom delivery both as a teacher and trainer; as well as on enhancing abilities for conducting meaningful research.
7. Research
Research forms an integral component of the faculty's work at IIM Kozhikode. Projects are funded either through IIMK's 'Small Grant Research Project' scheme, by external sources such as the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India ,Government of Kerala or through collaborations with foreign universities/research institutes. IIM Kozhikode faculty and staff regularly publish their work in reputed refereed national and international journals.
