Bhuvan Vs Google Earth -ISRO launches Bhuvan -bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in

Bhuvan the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) tool for satellite imagery of geographical regions has launched its beta version.The tool would offer pictures of the globe, just like Google Earth, and navigable in the same way but currently has the best resolutions over the Indian sub-continent. Hyderabad-based National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), a part of Isro, had a lead role in designing and developing ‘Bhuvan’.
Bhuvan promises to give better 3-D satellite imagery of India than google earth plus a host of India-specific features like weather information and even administrative boundaries of all states and districts.It also provides tools for measuring, drawing, saving, printing and visualizing thematic information. The resolutions currently on offer are good enough to view a vehicle moving on a road quite clearly.
According to the ISRO and media reports the new portal shows data which has been approved by the government of India and sensitive information has been kept out of the public domain.
The degree of resolution showcased is based on the level of popularity of a place or an area. Most of the terrain is covered up to a resolution of at least six metres. The least spatial resolution is 55 metres.The user can also navigate through 3D viewing environment.

Indian Maritime University (IMU) campus at Cochin Port

IMU the Indian Maritime University will open its regional campus at Kochi port.
IMU is a central university constituted by the Union Government of India.The Cochin campus will be the fourth campus of the Chennai headquartered Central University.
Media reports that The Cochin Port Trust (CPT) Board will consider allotment of 10 acres in Willingdon Island to set up IMU's the campus.

The other campuses of IMU are at Visakhapatnam, Kolkata and Mumbai Ports.

IGNOU FM stations in THIRUVANANTHAPURAM and Kochi

Now IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) all set to teach your lessons through FM radio.Even though they have started this initiative at the national level in 2002 itself,kerala didn't get such a station .

The Indira Gandhi National Open University to make use of radio an educational tool in Kerala also.IGNOU now ready to use this by starting FM stations at its campuses in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
The program will be named as 'Gyan Vani’.The FM radio is purely to air educational programmes including live radio counseling.In Thiruvananthapuram IGNOU will use All-India Radio for its transmission.In Kochi it will have its own facilities at the Kochi campus.
